The Wild Heritage Route

The Wild Heritage Route is a journey through India’s beating heart — where ancient dynasties, stone temples, and dense forests coexist in perfect harmony. This 10-day private tour combines the historic cities of Delhi, Agra, Gwalior, Orchha, and Khajuraho with the thrilling tiger reserves of Panna and Bandhavgarh. It’s a route that reveals India’s dual spirit — regal and raw, sacred and wild.

From the marble glow of the Taj Mahal to the echoing roars in Bandhavgarh’s jungles, every day introduces a new mood and landscape. Traveling with your private car and driver, you’ll explore monuments that whisper history, villages that preserve traditions, and forests that promise rare encounters with nature’s fiercest beauty.

Itinerary Detail

Day 01

Arrival in Delhi

Arrive in Delhi, India’s capital where history greets modernity at every corner. Your chauffeur will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. Spend the day unwinding after your flight, or take a short evening drive through Connaught Place to feel the city’s pulse.

Optional dinner can be arranged at a heritage restaurant serving North Indian cuisine. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 02

Delhi Sightseeing

After breakfast, explore Old Delhi — ride a rickshaw through Chandni Chowk, visit the majestic Jama Masjid, and pause at Raj Ghat, where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. Each turn reveals the charm and chaos that define the old city.

Later, continue to New Delhi for a panoramic tour of India Gate, Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, and the Lotus Temple. The colonial avenues and Mughal monuments narrate Delhi’s layered legacy. Return to your hotel by evening. Overnight in Delhi.

Day 03

Delhi - Agra (210 km / 4 hrs)

Depart for Agra, the city of eternal love. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and freshen up before visiting the awe-inspiring Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Watching its marble glow change with the sun is a memory to treasure forever.

Later, explore Agra Fort, an imposing red-sandstone citadel built by the Mughal emperors. The view of the Taj Mahal from its ramparts is breathtaking.

Evening free for leisure or shopping for marble inlay work. Overnight stay in Agra.

Day 04

Agra - Gwalior - Orchha (250 km / 5 hrs)

After breakfast, drive to Gwalior, a city known for its mighty fort and royal lineage. Visit Gwalior Fort, standing tall on a sandstone hill with ornate palaces like Man Mandir and Sas Bah u Temples within its walls.

Continue onward to Orchha, a medieval town frozen in time. On arrival, check into your heritage hotel overlooking the Betwa River. Evening free to walk along the ghats as the setting sun lights up the domes and cenotaphs. Overnight in Orchha.

Day 05

Orchha - Khajuraho (180 km / 4 hrs)

Begin your morning exploring Orchha’s heritage gems — the Jahangir Mahal, Raj Mahal, and the Chhatris along the riverbank. The quiet surroundings and ancient murals bring alive tales of Rajput valor and romance.

Later, drive to Khajuraho, famed for its exquisite temples and stone carvings that celebrate life and spirituality. Check into your hotel on arrival. Evening at leisure or enjoy the Sound & Light Show at the Western Group of Temples. Overnight in Khajuraho.

Day 06

Khajuraho - Panna (Tiger Safari)

After breakfast, explore the UNESCO-listed Khajuraho Temples, masterpieces of Chandela art depicting devotion, dance, and daily life with astonishing detail. The intricate sculptures reflect a philosophy where the sacred and sensual coexist beautifully.

In the afternoon, drive to Panna National Park, a tranquil forest reserve along the Ken River. Check into your jungle lodge and, time permitting, enjoy your first evening safari to spot tigers, leopards, and antelopes in their natural habitat. Overnight in Panna.

Day 07

Panna - Bandhavgarh (240 km / 5 hrs)

Wake early for a morning jeep safari in Panna. The misty sal forests come alive with birdsong, and if you’re lucky, a tiger may cross your path. After breakfast, continue your drive to Bandhavgarh National Park, one of India’s most famous tiger reserves.

On arrival, check into your lodge surrounded by dense teak forests. Spend the evening relaxing by the campfire or attending a short talk by a naturalist about the park’s ecosystem. Overnight in Bandhavgarh.

Day 08

Bandhavgarh - Jungle Safari

Today is devoted to wildlife exploration. Enjoy two safaris — morning and afternoon — through Bandhavgarh’s core zones, where tiger sightings are frequent. The park also shelters leopards, bison, sambar deer, and more than 250 species of birds.

Between drives, relax at your lodge, perhaps taking a dip in the pool or joining a guided village walk to learn about forest life. As dusk settles, share your safari stories under the stars. Overnight stay in Bandhavgarh.

Day 09

Bandhavgarh - Jabalpur - Delhi (by flight/train)

After breakfast, drive to Jabalpur. If time allows, visit the Marble Rocks at Bhedaghat, where the Narmada River cuts through gleaming cliffs of white stone — one of Central India’s most spectacular sights.

Later, transfer to the airport or railway station for your journey back to Delhi. On arrival, check into your hotel and rest after the long but rewarding travel day. Overnight in Delhi.

Day 010

After breakfast, your chauffeur will escort you to the airport for your onward flight.
